    Telford Nelson
Genre: Reggae
Region: Northeast US

   Description     Biography     Influences
Telford "Tilly" Neslon was born in Jamaica. His music career began very early with a few solo albums like: "LIVE AS ONE","WANTED" accompanied by Chris & Squidly, and then "ON THE ROCK", a very phenominal album of pure roots vibes. He then joined CULTURE in the late 1990's singing harmnonies with Albert Walker for the now late and great JOSEPH HILL~ Kenyetta Hill has taken over, and the band continues it's worldwide touring schedule.
This album confirms "Tilly" is a solid solo artist~

earBuzz Review:
There is nothing like the rockin' sounds of roots reggae in the summer. This music is the sound of true Jamaica, not the come via Sandals and lay on the white sand commercialized Jamaica, but the echoes of the people. Telford "Tilly" Nelson was born on the island, and his music reflects that lifestyle. Surrounded by the chaotic beauty of Kingston (the artist was born in the town of St. Andrew, very close to the infamous city) Nelson finds his inspiration in the rich culture of his brethren. The politically charged "Sunshine" sings of poverty and strife, while maintaining faith in Jah (the creator). The songs message is infectious and uplifting. "African Chick," obviously a love song, bobs and weaves in true Black Uhuru form. On The Rock is an album of constant reflection, praising Jah and the people Nelson loves. Devotees of the genre will find little surprise in bouncing bass lines, flowering vocals, and a consistent flow of island infused music. A welcome retreat from the commercially viable sounds of dancehall reggae, which currently swarms the radio dial, Telford Nelson has brought his beloved music back to basics with On The Rock. MM
