earBuzz Review:
The over-classification of music has detracted from the soul of the medium itself. Hip-hop, rap, rock-rap, alternative: These words aimed at encapsulating a musical theme only confuse the many messages expressed through this art form. Jefro is seemingly unshaken by these formulaic views. Aptly titled, given the current political landscape: No More War is Jefro?s sonic self portrait. Clearly influenced by a wide array of styles and sounds, from 80s synths to hip hop machinery, this album is not easily pigeon holed. The title track ?No More War? is his political statement. With the heart of the chorus exclaiming ?It?s hard to close our eyes in a world of war,? Jefro is attempting to awaken his audience. ?All U Have is You" provides the listener with Jefro?s intent: To motivate. He is keenly self-aware, yet comes across as a neighbor with a beat box and a message, not a pretentious wanna-be bling blingin? hip hop act. By using his artistic endeavors as vehicles for peace and understanding, respect is warranted by Jefro?s No More War. MM
