earBuzz Review:
Babylon Mysery Orchestra's Cd, "The Earth as it is in Heaven", is a guitar-focused dark metal CD based in Christian ideology with vocals that land in the middle of the bass and baritone register - demonic in timbre and riveting. The opening track, "Descension", showcases singer/songwriter Allen Johnson's finesse on guitar and production. The two chord tapestry sounds like a western showdown with rock clean guitar as the weapon. Nice. Track 2, "Semjaza's Song", introduces the consistent BMO style - thrash/crunch metal and faith based message. The third track, "Violation", utilizes a guitar/vocal melodic device that chants Violation to the point of fear. The long mp3 here, "Ravishing Music", introduces keyboard pads and medium tempoed straight-ahead rock as Johnson composes a tribute to the music Satan gave the children of Cain in order to more quickly spread evil. Our favorite track on the CD is "War Anthem". Here, BMO writes of the intensity of death and conflict without apology. Hard to tell whether the artist is against or for the conflict - which is a valid place to be - painting a picture of the reality of war without knocking us over the head with preaching morality. The CD has purpose - clearly - to communicate religious intensity through the most intense genre available. Solid and compelling music.
