Dan Daniels and Your No Good Buddies
Genre: Acoustic, Geezer Rock
Region: Northeast US

   Description     Biography     Influences
Dan Daniels and Your No Good Buddies on their two CD's display a great deal of variety in their music, but it can best be described as Americana Rock. Their is a rootsy quality to their music that gets expressed in the overall guitar driven, early rock and roll feel of some of their songs There is a strong element of country and country rock as well as some Southern rock, some cajun -zydeco, and Tex_Mex influences. Moving ballads are not left off the menu, nor are a trip or two to Island climes in songs such as "Sweet Mary Jane" and "Forbidden Love". There's even a little gospel with the environmental statement "What Would Jesus Drive" And songs of love lost, love found and of the redeeming power of new love are all a part of the mix. The title song from the new CD Geezer Rock is a paean to the gods of rock and the influence rock music had on the life of the Baby Boom generation, a group who still want to live life to the fullest, to continue along lives journey never flinching in the face of encroaching age, but ready for what"s next, whatever that might be.

earBuzz Review:
Dan Daniels and Your No Good Buddies latest record, "Geezer Rock", is another dozen rockin' tunes in the classic 50's and 60's format - albeit with updated production and lyrics that represent modern life in 2007. Background vocals and guitar fills pepper the opening track, "Back To You", as Daniels dedicates a song to a long-lived love that keeps 'me coming back to you'. Track 2, "Phantom Woman", conjures classic 60's music with thin organ single lines ala the Doors. The title track, "Geezer Rock", is a well written anthem that starts with acoustic guitar and is the confessional Daniels offers to listeners as to why his soul is in his music and he can't stop regardless of age. 'Took us to Woodstock, they took us to Altamount, through Vietnam, communes and the atom bomb, it's still here to guide us. . you're never too old for geezer rock'. YNGB takes a penetrating stab at slow 12-bar blues in "Winter Blues". The recording has the hallmarks of old-time electric rock and scores as one of the most musical cuts on the record. The guitar slide solo is up front, loud, and a beautiful thing. Daniels' sings ala George T and the band itself, made up of his NGB, has played and captured the fun essence that is their music. When you can hear the joy of music in the blues, you know you've got something special. "Sweet Lovin' Woman" is another example of the joy in the blues - this time in an upbeat boogie. Background vocals and piano are the highlight here - but the overall production of the tune is tight and familiar. The final track, "Rendevous", is a tribute to a watering hole where music is played, would-be stars are stuck, and the occasional fight adds spice to the barstool community. Of particular note is the country/rock guitar solo that fits perfectly. Overall the collection is a full menu of sweet rock and roll, tailored with sincerity and assembled with friends. Nice.
