earBuzz Review:
BB Cane's 2nd CD, "Rock 'n' Blues", is a step ahead in production quality as compared to their first CD, "To Tuscon". The 17-track more professionally mixed and mastered record begins with "Into One" - and the presence is more prominent and full. Track 5, "Pony Ride", is a straight-ahead rocker that has elements of a mustang sally ride to sing, 'she's my pony ride, talkin about my pony ride, a giddee up now'. Track 9, "Bush Beatin'", has a solid-state electric guitar tone and an Al Kooper organ vibe - and the apolotical track is about telling the truth, 'i ain't got time for your rope tricks baby cause i'm working on getting myself free, got to tell it like it is - ain't no sense in beatin' around the bush, you handed me a pack of lies, while you was handin' out tush'. Our favorite song is track 16's, "Roll Those Eyes", showcases the memorable writing that reveals the BB Cane potential, 'you rock my soul when your roll those eyes at me'. The CD showcases BB Cane's growing compositional and recording abilities - wrapped around sincere and convincing performances. We look forward to more.
