Accompanying herself on Autoharp, guitar or Appalachian lap dulcimer, Marti Rogers weaves a spell taking us back to simpler times when people sat on back porches, or around the hearth making their own music. From traditional ballads, broadsides or play party songs to mid-twentieth century classic folk songwriters, her repertory includes something for everyone who loves old songs. Husband, Tom Levy, adds that old-time rhythm with bass fiddle and older still, Irish bodhran. -Plain and Fancy, a patchwork quilt of folk styles, mostly Marti plain, includes Tom and guest musicians on five fancy tracks. -Old Songs for Young Folks came about by popular demand for something more suitable for kids, Tom is on all but seven songs.
