earBuzz Review:
Lori Passineau sings from a heart full of experiences, both good and bad. Her entertainingly soulful and bluesy style would have been welcomed in any old school gin joint or night club. "All The Way" showcases those talents. The listener can picture her subtly flirting with the piano player, glancing at the on-lookers sitting at their two-tops with candles lit and drinks half empty. "Broken" rocks with early Bonnie Raitt abandon. It's refreshing to hear the power in a woman exclaiming: "You begged me not to leave you now, but it's too late to make it right." She takes on the typical male role here; breaking hearts and moving on. We get a hint of Stevie Ray Vaughn in the slick guitar playing on "In the Rain." Passineau projects star like quality in this cut. Her vocal prowess conjuring images of Janis Joplin, and though her voice differs sonically from Joplin's, the power and hunger is there. Things get a drummy make-over on "Wings of a Dove." This track allows the artist to get her pop groove on, while retaining that soulful touch; a Gladys Knight kinda flavor. Passineau is a pro, give her record a spin. MM
