earBuzz Review:
Out of CD Stock - The Eames Era has proved their consistency with Heroes and Sheroes, the bands second full length effort. While this record seems more polished than Double Dutch (the first LP) the magic has not been lost, but refined. As the young group matures, so does their material and approach. The production on Heroes, while more focused, keeps close the playfulness and upbeat tonality that makes this band such a fantastic soundtrack to life. "NC-17" is a fine example of their widening scope. The track tackles the follower mentality that consumes the youth of today, and the resulting apathetic state of their generation. With lyrics like "NC-17 and counting, but I couldn't tell you if you twisted my arm", The Eames are letting their audience know they are not blind. This young squad knows how to let their hair down and have fun, while writing from the gut. Pop music needs The Eames Era. Their formula is (and yes, I've said this before) superbly mixed. With the infectious vocals of Ashlin Phillips, and tight playing of the boys: Ted Joyner, Grant Widmer, Brian Waits, and Greg Gauthreau, they simply can not lose. MM
