Jeffrey Michael came up with an interesting concept for Cinematic Fantasy: Take some popular movie scores and translate the compositions into piano music. His taste is varied, as he covers epic films like Titanic and The Godfather as well as Love Actually and Forrest Gump (a soundtrack none of us shall soon forget). He chose the actual song title for his interpretation of the track in "Falling Slowly", as opposed to the film for which it is best known: Once. This song, originally sung by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (for which they won an Oscar for best song) is simply gorgeous. Michael also selected the tear jerking "Wind Beneath My Wings", the quintessential ballad, to include in this compilation. A wise move, as it gets difficult to escape that song at times, even after all these years following its release. There's something for the kids in "Over the Rainbow", perhaps his version could even serve as a backdrop for some Kermit karaoke (anything that get the kids singing is a good thing). "Braveheart" was also a wise choice, as the original relied on a piano for the hook. Soundtrack fans have a listen. MM
