    Fitch
Genre: Acoustic, Ambient, Electronic, Celtic
Region: Europe

   Description     Biography     Influences
Celocity.  Fitch.  An inspired combination of acoustic cello and effects.

A year in the making, Celocity crosses the boundaries of electro, acoustic and ambient music. Many of the tracks are simply cello, multi-tracked and processed with many different software tools. Others bring in electronic backgrounds that are hauntingly beautiful.
It was recorded in the newly converted, sea-view Fitchsounds studio overlooking the Cooley Peninsula in the midst of the Boyne Valley in Ireland. Inspired by the ebb and flow of the sea, it also charts a journey into a new life of magic and creativity.

earBuzz Review:
Fitch deserves credit for her album titles alone. The word Celocity encapsulates the sound of the record so exactly it's difficult to describe the music without utilizing the album title! While Celocity is ambient at its core, here we have more of the unmasked cello sounds at the forefront. "Ambit", the records first cut, beautifully combines the fingering textures of her cello with electronic sweeps and hovering tones. She hits the nail on the head with yet another perfectly descriptive title in "Winding Zone." This piece has a real Philip Glass/Steve Reich kind of sound; with its sparse, haunting strings and slow building energy. Fans of "Music for 18 Musicians" will surely appreciate this cut. The hollowing journey continues on "Journey" and "Orbit." Fitch's compositions are precise and masterful. This is no mere collection of random, triggered sounds. This artist knows how to both capture and express emotion without the aid of needlessly complex sounds. This quality: Her way of creating vast soundscapes with the simplest of tools, is most interesting and keeps the listener engaged until the conclusion. Not to say that her methods are simplistic, quite the contrary; her themes have depth even in silent passages. MM
