earBuzz Review:
Sometimes the spark that ignites a bands' first EP fades away during the recording of their first full length. Double Dutch takes the spark and sets things ablaze. The music of The Eames Era not only matures on Double Dutch, but does so without losing that playful spirit that made the Second EP such an unforgettably enjoyable experience. The team showcases their musical chops a bit more here, with smart changes and deeper, more insightful lyrical content. Still, their music is simple and fun, which makes for splendid pop. "Promises" is this generations Some Kind of Wonderful song. The track captures the spirit of a new kind of pop: The kind that pays sonic homage to their elders, while putting their own flavor to it. "Listen For the Sun" is like listening to the Violent Femmes on ecstasy. "When you talk like a fu*ker its not what you said, it's that you said it in a cynical tone". That's a pop lyric, a looking glass into the apathy that surrounds The Eames Era daily. With a little luck and more hard work this band could very well be the next Weezer or Fountains of Wayne. They are fun, smart, catchy and wildly infectious. MM
